How To Wear The Tie Dye Trend Now

2020 Jul 22nd

If Instagram is any indication of what the biggest fashion trends are, then I’m sure you all know by now that the most stylish people can’t seem to get enough of tie dye. I honestly never thought I’d find myself wanting to wear tie dye all the time. But since I’ve been spending so much time at home, I’ve been on the hunt for pieces that are comfortable – and can easily transition from the home to the grocery store. The psychedelic print is edgy, casual, and playful all at the same time so you can really wear it anywhere in any way. But in case you’re not convinced, I wanted to share the easiest ways you can jump on the tie dye trend now.

1. Basic Tees

A basic tee is probably the obvious and most accessible fashion choice. There are a few different ways you can style the tee. For instance, tying it into a knot at the waist like I did above, tucking the front into high-waisted jeans or layering it under a blazer or trench coat for a polished ensemble. Complete the outfit with a pair of clean sneakers – this is key to grounding any look that’s out of your comfort zone.

2. Loungewear Sets

Tie dye loungewear sets are the easiest way to rock the trend because it keeps you snug in the comfort of your home. However, I’ll be honest that they’re quite hard to find right now. Anytime a retailer stocks a super cute set, it flies off the shelves. They’re a nice way to change up your satin pajamas or basic sweat suit.

3. Hoodies & Sweatshirts

If you can’t get your hands on the perfect tie dye set, hoodies and sweatshirts are the next best thing. They’re a great match for distressed jeans, joggers, or leggings. I’m currently favoring oversized styles that have an edgy, urban vibe. It makes for a street style chic look when you accessorize it with more masculine pieces like a baseball cap or vintage sneakers. When I’m wearing tie dye out, I like to keep my outfit understated and lean towards monochromatic neutral outfits to really let the print make a statement.

4. Dress

One piece I’ve been leaning towards more and more lately is tie dye dresses. A casual t-shirt dress feels super appropriate for the warmer weather while you’re working around the house. It would make such a cute vacation or date night look.
